Refreshing a color collection can be more than adding new colors. In May 2023, Stampin’ Up!® added new or familiar colors, and retired other colors to create a refreshed core collection of forty-three ink pads (Classic Stampin’ Pads ®) and ink refills.
Refreshed Update
You will find the updated colors in their dye (Stampin’ Write™) markers and alcohol markers (Stampin’ Blends™) and cardstock. Some of these colors are also incorporated into their accent products like ribbons, sequins. Stampin’ Up!® has also updated their watercolor pencils to include some of the new colors.
This broad array of color-coordinated products has generated a faithful customer base for the past thirty-five years. Admittedly, Stampin’ Up!® color products are one of my three favorite brands. When I use color cardstock, I exclusively turn to Stampin’ Up!® because I know I’ll get a perfect match or coordination.
What are the new colors?
The new refreshed color collections reintroduces six colors that had been retired. There’s nothing warmer than seeing old friends!
The returning colors are:
- Lemon Lime Twist (2017-2019 In Color)
- Berry Burst (2017-2019 In Color)
- Pretty Peacock (2019-2021 In Color)
- Lost Lagoon (2014-2016 In Color)
- Fresh Freesa (2021-2025 In Color)
- Misty Moonlight (2020-2022 In Color)
The four new colors are:
- Azure Afternoon
- Lemon Lolly
- Bubble Bath
- Pecan Pie
Color Organization
Stampin’ Up!® organizes their colors into five core collections. Let’s take a look at how the colors are arranged.
The Neutrals Collection includes:
Misty Moonlight
Night of Navy
Blackberry Bliss
Early Espresso
Crumb Cake
Gray Granite
Smoky Slate
Basic Gray
I use many of these colors for my masculine cards and autumn-themed cards.
The second group is the Brights Collection. Here we find:
Melon Mambo
Flirty Flamingo
Pumpkin Pie
Daffodil Delight
Granny Apple Green
Coastal Cabana
Azure Afternoon
Berry Burst
You’ll find floral, spring, summer and birthday color combinations in this family.
The third collection is Subtles Collection that includes:
Calypso Coral
Lemon Lolly
Soft Sea Foam
Lost Lagoon
Balmy Blue
Highland Heather
Fresh Freesia
Bubble Bath
When making Easter cards and wedding cards I start in this collections. I also avail myself to this collection when making baby cards.
In the Regals Collection, third grouping, we find:
Real Red
Cajun Craze
Crushed Curry
Old Olive
Garden Green
Shaded Spruce
Pretty Peacock
Blueberry Bushel
Gorgeous Grape
This collection, in my opinion, is the nucleus of Stampin’ Up’s ink. These jewel tones can be used in most card designs.
The final group is the Basics Collections. Here we find: Very Vanilla, Basic White and Basic Black. These three colors are the foundation of most card bases. Most of my card bases are on white. I use Very Vanilla for masculine cards as well as fall-themed designs.

Wow! This was a long post, but lots of information to explain changes and the refreshed color collection. We’ll look at the In Colors in another post, so be on the lookout for that article.
Do you have a favorite collection? If yes, which one?
