Recently, I had to make a fast sympathy card. I knew I wanted a floral focal image and I had been waiting to use a gorgeous Stampin’ Up!® stamp named “Prized Peony.” Fortunately, there was a YouTube video demonstrating a quick card using this stamp set. I jumped on it and made a card inspired by Nancy’s video.
What did I do?
First, I created my blended background with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide ink. I turned to my rectangles masking stencils by Taylored Expressions instead of using masking paper or tape. The stencil was a big time saver.
To add interest to my card panel I embossed it after blending and stamp. I decided not to put a sentiment on the card panel–I wanted the spotlight to be on that gorgeous flower. Inside my card I wrote my heartfelt note.
I loved how this card panel turned out. I made several other panels using different colors that I will be using for birthdays and other occasions. The color of the background will dictate my use.
Inspiration Video
Here’s the video that inspired my card design. In my future cards, I will probably add some sequins to the panel. However, since my first use of the design was for sympathy card, I didn’t want too much “fru-fru”.
I hope you enjoyed my card and that you’ll get inspired using Nancy’s video.
